Mandi's kittens 22.12.
Mandi's kittens have gotten their names. Z-letter is not the easiest one, so this time I chose the names which just sounded nice. The male is Ziggy, the females Zelda and Zsa-Zsa. The females have opened their eyes already some days ago, yesterday the male just opened his a little.

Mandi has 3 sweet kittens! The kittens were quite big when they were born, the females 120 and 100 and the male 116 grams.
Mandi, Gilda and Taika are so good friends, always together. When Mandi had gotten her kittens, 2 others wanted to go and see what Mandi has there. As usual Mandi was very friendly and confident to the others. So, now they all 3 can take care of the little ones. Gilda knows what to do and nurses the kittens, also Mandi sometimes. Taika is very astonished, she wonders the funny sounds of the kittens and tries to get them to move with her paws (very gently though). Now and then there is all 6 cats at the same nest.

FIN*Zarin Renenet, 'Siiri', was BIS-neuter 8.12. at the show in Pori. Swedish judge Eiwor Andersson, who has also bred Russians herself, though some years ago, judged our cats.
When Eiwor saw Siiri, her first comment was: "That's what I  like!".
Many congratulations to Siiri and Kirsi!

18.11.2007. Some showresults.

At the first weekend in November I was in Tallinn with Gilda and Fedja. Gilda became Grand International Champion. Fedja got also his certs and was both days BIS-neuter. On Saturday the Russians were judged by Sara Ojaniemi from Finland, on Sunday Martti Peltonen from Sweden.

After a week from Tallinn shows we flew, Fedja and I, to Stockholm. Fedja got his certs also there and was again both days best in show! Our judges were Elisabeth Raab Alvarson from Sweden and Arja Martikainen from Finland.

Walking On Sunshine's (called Salli) new home is in Paimio with family Heino. Also Salli got a new catfriend, Rauha (FIN*Zarin Re). Everything is very fine with all the cats!

Wind Of Change, our gentle giant, moved to his new home on Friday. There he also got a new name, the sons of the family decided to call him Mici. First Mici was a little bit afraid and missed his mom, granny and sisters. But began to feel at home very quickly, started to play and eat. Mici is quite a huge kitten, he weighed more than 2 kilos already at the age of 13 weeks.
The photos of Mici are taken 23.9.

15.9.2007. What a day!!!

Pikku and Charlotte.
All the photos Elisabeth Larsson.
Russian Blue Klubben celebrates 30-years anniversary this year and arranged a special Russian Blue show 8.9. in Gothenburg at Västsvenska Kattklubben's show. There were about 20 beautiful and handsome, older and younger Russian Blues, which were judged by a Swedish judge Glenn Sjöbom. It was really so nice to see all the cats and meet the people.

Fedja became IP, was BIV-neuter and also got to the panel. The panel took much longer than usual, because this time there was also taken the best cat of the show (best of best, BOB). First Fedja was BIS shorthair neuter male (one of his competitors was World Winner 2006), after that he won the best neuters of the other categories. So, Fedja got to the final where was 4 cats left; the best adult, neuter, youngster and kitten of all the categories. From these 4 cats a judge from Holland, Alexey Shchukin decided who is the most beautiful cat of the whole show and he chose Fedja!!! We got a lot of prices. And we got so many congratulations, from our friends and also people I didn't even know. Many thanks and hugs to all of you who were happy for us. So well done Fedja!
The last time a Russian Blue was BOB in Sweden was in spring 1997; Elisabeth Larsson's extreamly beautiful IC S*Kosmoskattens Cassandra.

Glenn nominated other beautiful Russian Blues too; Kenneth Eklind's Kia (EC Limelight's Kia,DSM) and Poca (Limelight's Pochahontas) and Charlotte Bredberg's Plysch (IP S*Valinor's Celebrian) and Pikku (FIN*Zarin Querida Maia), who was BIS shorthair youngster!

The celebration continued in RBK's evening party, plenty of wonderful company, food and drinks. We toasted to Cassandra and Fedja, and to all our lovely blue cats.

What a day!!!
IC S*Kosmoskattens Cassandra (Own. & br. Elisabeth Larsson), one of the most beautiful Russian Blues I have ever met, was BOB in spring 1997.

Talita's kittens became 3 weeks old today. They have grown and learnt so much new again in a week. The male weighs already about 500 grams, the females also about 400 grams. Already more than a week the male has gone to his trips out from the nest, the females were a bit more careful, but they have started their adventures too. The first born female is walking around with a bit more dignity, but the sister is running around and makes funny little sounds.

Talita's kittens, a male and 2 females, were born a week ago on Thursday. Quite a huge male, 123 grams, was born first, then 2 females, both about 100 grams. The kittens have more than doubled their weights in a week. Mom Talita and grandmammy Kapris take so good care of the kittens, which look very happy.

Elli's female kitten, Sheer Sapphire, moved to Italy to Francesco and his Russians, Lyú, Tender and Sophia.

The male, Sheer Emerald lives in Turku with family Silventoinen. Eino has a cat friend, Divina.
Tähti moved to Anita's, Aura's and Vito's home here in Helsinki and is called Luka now. Because of playful Luka, also the older dog, Aura, interested in to play more. The cats, Vito and Luka, are the best friends!

The kittens grow up so fast...
A week ago Qat moved to his new home to France, to Camilla, Jan and Jasmin. Lively Qat has already made at home and has done some things there; like he has climbed to the stand with clothes hanging to be dried and put them all on the floor, he has climbed to the laundry basket and pulled it down, he has climbed to the highest places and played with almost every toy at his new home. Camilla wrote to me that Qat is very charming, talkative, cuddly, full of energy and mischievous!

Maia and Mio have moved to their new homes. Maia to Charlotte's home to Stockholm, where lives also 2 other cats; Diesel and neutered Russian Blue female Plysch. Mio's new home is in Tampere with Elina, Harri and Russian Blue neuter male Niilo.
Maia had been only about 2 hours at her new home, when she became a very good friend with Diesel. Plysch decided to watch Maia from a distance for a while before to make better friendship.
Niilo was a bit afraid of Mio first, but after about 24 hours he found out that little kitten is not dangerous at all and boys made friends.

20.2.2007.

The second male is just been born
Gilda got three kittens on Monday. The kittens were born quite exactly at intervals of one hour; first 2 males and the last one was a female. Gilda is very happy with her babies!

Talita's kittens are 8 weeks old tomorrow. Qat is the most active of the kittens, a madcap, who runs and jumps as long as he isn't sleeping. In the other hand Qat comes very often to my lap and purrs. Mio is more prudent: better safe than sorry! Mio is mom's boy, who likes to eat (he weighs already about 1100 grams). Maia is very kind and sweet. Maia is the first one to do many things; to open her eyes, to start to eat and to go to toilet. Mandi is brave and ingenious, an adventuress, who talks a lot. Mandi was the first one who came out from the nest (she was only a week old) and she also found out very quickly how to get over a cardboard, which I had made to prevent the kittens to come out from their room too early.

The names of Pilli's kittens come from Egypt. The male got the name Ra, which means the sun. The last born female is Re, the sun of the noon and the first born female is Renenet, the queen of happiness.

He looks like an old man, as it should be at this age.
But he still has an active mind.
Congratulations to my old gentleman!

Talita's kittens have grown very well. They have opened their eyes, have started to play with each other and try to run around their nest. Curious and brave kittens have already come out the nest too.
The kittens are still small, but already big personalities; different looks and temperaments can already be seen.

15.11.2006. News from Stockholm.

Last weekend we were, Fedja and I, in Stockholm at Stockholms Kattklubbens 60th anniversary shows. The shows were quite big; on Saturday there were about 850 cats, about 280 of them in category III and on Sunday about 700 cats, about 255 in category III. Also some more Russians than at many other shows in Sweden were present, which was very interesting. It was really nice to see the cats and meet the breeders. Alexey Shchukin and Maj-Britt Stein judged the Russians.

Fedja was as usual; relaxed and playful. And his success was much more I could ever had dreamed of. Fedja got the same results both days: Ex 1, BIV, NOM and BIS! On Saturday shorthairs were judged by 11 judges and on Sunday by 12. And at the panels Fedja even got most of the votes!

14.7.2006
It was the last day in June when it was Nadja’s turn to move her new home. She went to Turku to Satu and Topias and also got a new nickname, Tove. Little Tove was first a little afraid and thought it is better to hide behind the washing machine. She didn’t come out, so she was taking out. Actually Tove was not at all scared anymore but started to look around. After a while Tove met her new cat friends, 2 neutered males, Elvis (Sacred Birman) and Eetu (Ocicat). To Elvis Tove had to hiss a little bit; maybe Elvis was frightening with all his long hairs. Eetu was a bit afraid of Tove. However now, after about a week all the cats are already friends to eachother. They eat and sleep together. And Tove and Eetu are playing a lot, as we thought they will. Gilda’s little, brave, wild, sweet baby girl already feels at home; I know that, because she has been hanging in the curtains, teared a kitchen roll, which she first took from the closed cupboard, to pieces...

The first weekend in July we; Pia, Gilda and Fedja, went to POROK’s shows to Kempele. It was a long way to go there, but the shows were very nice and the atmosphere peaceful, as usual. Both days Gilda had a competitor, who she won, got 2 CAC’s and became Champion. On Sunday she was also nominated. Fedja got Ex 1 both days and very fine judgments. It looked like he enjoyed to be shown, so relaxed and playful he was at the shows. On Saturday there were also some other Zarin cats. On Saturday Joy got the results Ex 1, BIV and NOM and neutered males B.B.King and Florian (Eetu) got their certificates. Eetu was shown still on Sunday and was BIV neuter. On Saturday our judge was Vera Vasilieva from Russia and on Sunday Jaana Jyrkinen from Finland.

Talita became GIC 10.6. in Mo i Rana in Norway. On Saturday Talita was also nominated and on Sunday she got her first CACE. Talita was praised a lot of her harmonic body, beautiful expression and head, fine green eyecolour and very kind behaviour. Some extra thanks she got because she really is a mature female. Hanne-Sofie Sneum from Denmark was our judge on Saturday and Karl Preiss from Austria on Sunday.

Next weekend Gilda’s males moved to their new homes. Nicholas, ‘Niilo’, left on Saturday to Tampere to Elina’s and Harri’s home. It was Niilo who had been the most cautious of the kittens from the beginning. But he had gotten a lot of more courage during his first 13 weeks. Elina told me, that on Saturday evening they felt like there would have been a little invisible ghostcat at their home; they could feel his presence but didn’t see anything. Niilo was hiding under the sofa, the bed or the arm-chair and found a good hiding place behind the CD-shelf. But only for a short while; later in the evening he was already playing! When Elina, on the next day, told me, that Niilo really is very talkative, he is sitting in their laps purring, baking and talking, I knew Niilo already began to feel at home.

Early on Sunday morning we drove to Jämsä. Tarja and Timo were already there, and took Neo to his new home in Viitasaari. When we were driving to Jämsä, Neo, who is always so happy and contented, was just purring and baking with his paws. At Neo’s new home there were also new catfriends for him; an older, clever gentleman Opsu and the kindest younger boy B.B.. Neo, the big adventurer, the conqueror of the world just walked around of his new home, went to Tarja’s lap, was lying there on his back, purring. And that was it; Neo felt at once at home and the older cats accepted the little kitten.

22.6.2006
Billy (Silverlock I Believe In U, br. Iris B. Tanner) has been about 4 weeks at his new home now. Billy also got a new nickname, he is called Fedja. Quickly brave little Fedja got to know his new home, people Arja and Petri and made friends with the other cats in the house; Russian males Juri and Igor. Juri didn’t almost notice Fedja’s coming, Igor was a little afraid in the beginning. But a huge Bloodhound Kaapo frightened Fedja more or less at first. Kaapo really doesn’t move as quietly and gracefully as cats do. Also he made strange voices and looked so big, Fedja had ever before met anything like that! But in a few days Fedja found out that big Kaapo is not at all dangerous but very friendly. Here some photos of Fedja, he is there 4½ months old.

Billy is here!
On Friday 26.6. a little blue male kitten flied to Finland from USA. His trip had taken, of course, many hours. Because of that I was more or less worried, when I thought how the little male had gotten over the trip. But nothing to worry about! When we met first time, Billy and I, at the airport, there was no signs of the strain of the journey seen on him. The little kitten was miaowing, purring and playing with his toys in his transport box. Very brave little boy!

More news of Billy coming later.

Gilda's kittens have became wild, little cats, who will climb to your lap to purr; at once they have played enough. All the kittens are as sweet and charming, although I can already see their a bit different characters. Nadja is independent, brave, clever little girl, who knows what she wants. Neo is broad-minded, big adventurer. Nicholas is the most loudly, funny little boy talks to you even when he is half sleeping; but he is also the most cautious.

Something old and something new
Gilda’s kittens have gotten their names. Something old: the blue male is called Nicholas and the female is Nadja. One of the nicknames of Nicholas is Nicky. So, the blue kittens got their names after my first Russian Blues. The pointed male is Neo, which means, among other things, something new. Neo is the first pointed kitten, which is born at my home. Kittens opened their eyes about a week ago. Here is some photos of little cutiepies.

Kittens!
Gilda has gotten 3 kittens! A blue male and a blue female and a male who is white like snow were born on Saturday night. Gilda and her sister Elli (Grace) had some similarities when they gave birth. Both females started a bit earlier we had expected, also without midwives knowledge. Elli's first kitten was born when Ainomaria was still working. Gilda got her first kitten early in the small hours, when I had fallen asleep, just for a minute or two between the ringings of my alarm clock. Both, Gilda and Elli, had also decided to have a bit more colourful litter. The second kitten in both litters was a white male (which will be a blue pointed later).

Gilda's delivery went very fine. Gilda is purring a lot to her kittens, stretching herself and baking with her paws. The kittens have started to eat very briskly. They all look so happy!

Bella’s kittens have moved; Joy went to Seinäjoki to Christine and Jerome. Julian moved to Outokumpu to Timo and his family. And Juliet stayed quite near us, she went to Espoo to Heli and Tommi.

At the beginning the kittens were longing for home, but fortunately they got used to their new homes in a short time. As kittens usually do. Also mom Bella was looking for her kittens a couple of days. But when the kittens didn’t come back, Bella decided to start a heat. And a loud roar still continues. Maybe that way she could get kittens again!

CHRISTMAS 2005

Bella’s kittens were 4 weeks on Boxing Day. The kittens have grown very well and they are already running all over in their nursery.

The kittens have also gotten names. The girl who was born last, got the name Joy, simply because she is so brave, happy and super social. When she hears a voice of me or some of my friends (she doesn’t care if she knows her/him or not), she runs to the lap and starts to purr. Another of the females is very pretty indeed, with her big eyes and ears. She is Juliet. The male is like a teddy-bear, so big (he weighted 680 grams 4-weeks age!) and he got the name Julian.

All the kittens are very sweet!

APILA (DK*Paragon Blue Fiver's Clover)

Apila flied to Finland in a hot Tuesday in the end of July. At once little brave Apila was at ease at her new home (she is living with Heidi and Janne Rand). Apila was at all afraid of the new place and people, but at first she thought her new catfriends Vega (EP&CH FIN*Zarin Vega) ja Sirimiri (FIN*Zarin Sirimiri) were a little bit exciting. After a few days also the cats made friends. Apila's parents are CH Silvergrey Paragon Blue Fiver and Feodora Francine v.d. Goehr, breeders Allan Kastberg&Kurt Holst.

Apila is a brave, cheerful and confident kitten, who seems to be a kitten, who is not afraid of new situations so much. Apila was at her first shows in Hyvinkää 21.-22.8. In her cage Apila was lying on her back, was enjoying when she was pet on her stomach, played and slept. When I took her to our judge, she was a bit excited the first day, but on Sunday it looked the situation was already familiar for her, because she was purring and playing while she was judged.

On Saturday there were 4 female kittens, Apila got Ex 1 of them, and a male kitten; Apila was BIV in kitten class. On Sunday there were 2 female and 4 male kittens and Apila got Ex 1 and BIV again. Apila's excellent coat and her whole sweet being were maybe those things who decided the victories for her good.

Some cats from my breeding were also in Hyvinkää. On Saturday Pilli's results were CACE and BIV. Grace was in class 11 and became Ex 2. Vega got her certificate and was BIV and NOM. On Sunday Chia (Cinzia) got CAGCIB, Vega and Petja (Ximenes) both got their last CAPE and became European Premiors! In class 11 Into won his 2 competitors and got Ex 1, Gilda had 5 competitors, which she won as well as Into, when the judge chose BIV. Gilda was nominated too. On Saturday our judge was Marie Westerlund and on Sunday Jitka Kytlerova.

31.7.2005

There was a show in Jämsä 18.6.2005. The neuterpanel in category III was a big success for Russian Blues! First Opsu (EP FIN*Zarin Oberon) was chosen as the best neutered male and then Vega (GIP&CH FIN*Zarin Vega) won the other female neuters. So, in the end we had there two Russians, Opsu and Vega. The panel was a thriller to the end; there were 4 judges and the votes went even. Both cats got 2 votes. Anne-Gro Edström was the judge who was chosen to decide, if the votes are even and finally she chose Vega to win.
Oberon became European Premior at the same show!

S*Astragalus Blue Nureyev (born 9.12.2004), Reiska, moved to Finland in the beginning of April. His parents are CH S*Molotov's Moody Blue and EC Guldvingens Silver Zinnie, breeders Magdalena, Oscar, Peter and Sara Feldt.

Reiska doesn't live at my home, but very near. I was very lucky, because a friend of mine, Satu, wanted to give a home to him. Except Satu, Reiska has two other friends, a neuter Russian male Eppu and a neuter abessinian male Indi. Reiska has a short, soft coat, excellent profile and a beautiful dark green colour in his eyes, already now. Hopefully he will be the father of next Zarin-litters, which are planned to be born next autumn.

JOYS and SORROWS

When Holly, Iisakki, Iivari and Into had moved it was time to take Gilda here. She came to us on Good Friday. Little Gilda is very brave and wasn’t at all afraid of her new home and all my adult cats. Already at the weekend she run all over the house. Gilda is a little beam of sunshine; playful and always in good mood, the one who loves to sit and purr in your lap.

Every one of my cats had a little bit different reaction to Gilda’s coming here. Luukas was very friendly from the first second he saw Gilda. He just wanted to play with her. Nicky didn’t notice the new kitten almost at all, he is so used to them and always been very friendly for new ones. Kapris watched very closely what Gilda was doing. So did Talita, who was also a bit afraid of her. Arina warned Gilda not to come too close, but at the same time they ate next to each other. Two days Bella was after Gilda, just wanted to smell her and try to find out who she is. Nadja didn’t react at all. Next week the reason became clear to me.

Gilda tervehtii Talitaa

THE BIG SORROW.

Nadja would have celebrated her 14th birthday in summer, which would have been quite a high age for her because of all her illnesses and bad luck. In spite of all her troubles Nadja was always very happy, friendly and contented. A cat who didn’t save her purring. Nadja loved summer, sunshine and flies. She loved to be pet and brushed. And to eat boiled chicken and dry food; although she didn’t have any teeth. She loved pingpong balls, which were bouncing funnily.

I had noticed, that lately, little by little, Nadja had started to sleep more, it was harder for her to walk. She didn’t want to play so much anymore, she didn’t come to the sofa with me, when I watched TV. Either her appetite was not so good it had been.

But last week I saw very clearly, that Nadja was not in a good condition anymore. Poor Nadja stopped to eat, she drank only. Nadja staggered when she was walking. Nadja couldn’t sleep but just wandered from place to place. Nadja didn’t want even her best friend, Arina, near her. There was very sad and tired look in Nadja’s eyes. All week I thought about the difficult, but inevitable decision, to let Nadja get free from all pain and tiredness. In Friday morning, when I looked at Nadja, I made up my mind. Nadja was very afraid of vets, so I asked her to come to our home.

In the beautiful sunny Friday morning, 1th April, Nadja breathed her last. Nadja fell asleep, peacefully, in my arms.

Holly lives at her new home too; in Sweden with Elisabeth Larsson (S*Kosmoskattens).

Holly’s flight to Sweden was just at the same day, when one of the worst snowstorms of the winter was both in Finland and Sweden. Flight and road conditions were very bad; some flights were cancelled, many of them were late, there was a lot of accidents on the roads.

Holly’s trip from Helsinki to Kungshamn should have taken about 5 hours, but now it took 12 hours! But Holly was very calm all day. She didn’t say a word, just sat and looked around. When she, at last, got to her new home, she started to look around, play, eat and drink. Holly is not afraid of anything, said Elisabeth. At night Holly slept with Elisabeth, very close to her, sometimes around Elisabeth’s neck like a boa snake.

Such a cat is Holly; brave, happy, speedy, playful and sweet-tempered!

Bella’s males have moved to their new homes.

Into went to Imatra and is the only catmaster of the house.
Iisakki’s new home is in Jyväskylä where he has a friend, a housecat called Leevi.
And Iivari stayed here in Helsinki, his new friend is called Elli, a little Russian Blue female.

All the males are very social kittens, who are purring a lot and like to be in a lap. Iisakki is the wildest and most stubborn Into always the last one who wakes up, but also when he starts to run and play, there really is speed! Iivari is the kindest, who thinks before he does, he is the most cautious.

Bella’s kittens have always been very big, all of them have weighted more than 100 grams when they have been born. But these kittens are the most huge ones we have had. The weights of the boys, when they were 12 weeks, were: Iisakki 1886 grams, Iivari 1768 grams and Into 1854 grams. The new owners didn’t get small kittens but small cats!

Two weeks ago we were at a show in Vaasa; Pilli first time after she has had kittens and Gilda at her very first show. Gilda was a bit worried; almost nothing else in her moved but her big eyes. Gilda pretended to be as unnoticeable as possible! Our judge was Eric Reijers, who was rocking Gilda and looking at her quite a long time, and then took her to his lap during the judgment. Both girls got very fine judgments and both were BIV too.

Talita´s little girl, Holly, on New Year´s Eve 2004.

31.12.2004

Bella got three big males on Thusday evening 28.12.2004. The birth went well and quickly, the males were born in an hour.
The photos are taken 30.12.2004.

Talita surprised me and gave birth already on Monday 20.12.!
As I had thought there was only one kitten. But everything went so well and Talita and the little H-female are fine. Talita would have milk to whole army. The little one goes from teat to teat, she is very lucky! In the photo the little H-female is 1 1/2 days old.

Pilli's kittens were born 19. and 20.11.2004. The first photos of Pilli and her kittens.

Pilli, a few hours before she got her kittens.

14.11.2004.

We are waiting for kittens to be born!

Pilli will have her kittens after a week. Masi (Janosch vom Salzbachtal) visited us two times and met two very different cat ladies. As a happy result of his visits we are also waiting for Christmas babies to be born.

Talita should have her kittens 23.12. and Bella 27.12.

All three, Pilli, Talita and Bella, seems to feel very fine. You can already see little kicks of kittens in Pilli’s stomach. Talita is as she is always; playful and happy and loves to be with her Kapris-mom. Bella’s behaviour changes maybe the most. Always when Bella is pregnant, she is the happiest cat in the world. Purring continually, she looks like she would be smiling all the time.

10.10.2004

The first weekend in October was quite a success for Luukas’ kittens! Kenneth Eklind’s S*Limelight’s Kia became European Champion and Kia was also best in show adult (BIS) 2.10. in Sweden in Mantorp. At the same day Kati Lampela’s FIN*Hana-Bi Anakin was also BIS-adult here in Finland in Porvoo. And a neuter male from my own breeding, Maria Forsgård’s GIP FIN*Zarin Ximenes was best opposite sex (BOX) both days, on Saturday and on Sunday in Porvoo. The photos are taken by photographer Peter Forsgård (except Kia’s photos are my own).
